Jerry Garcia photograph copyright by Gary Schroeder
I took this photo of Jerry Garcia in September 1975 at The New Age Bicentennial Unity Fair in Golden Gate Park. This photo was published in the Rolling Stone on November 6, 1975, page 12. Thanks to Big Al, I found out that my image has also been used without permission in art work on a Grateful Dead CD named "Typical Daydream". Al says that this was not an official Grateful Dead CD but it was an underground production that was made in Germany in 1994.

You can purchase this photo as a 8 x 10 B&W print signed by the photographer for $75 plus $5 shipping and handling. Please mail payment to me at:

I arrived in the Haight Ashbury in late 1966 and lived in San Francisco for the next 12 years. During that time, I went to many concerts at the Avalon Ballroom, Fillmore Auditorium, California Hall and Winterland. I also attended the San Francisco Art Institute where I took courses in photography from Jerry Burchard and other photographers. Annie Liebovitz also attended the San Francisco Art Institute when I was there.

I have been published in several places, including the San Francisco Gator, the San Francisco Bay Guardian, the San Francisco Chronicle, the San Francisco Examiner and Rolling Stone. I have also won awards for my photography and videos.

This section is under construction and I will be adding additional photographs soon.
